I attended a beginner course of photography years ago. The instructor suggested us to get a good tripod as part of our kit for night photography.

She said Manfrotto was good and it was like the Rolls-Royce among tripod brand names.

Later I knew she was like me and we are both coming from Hong Kong.

In the 1980’s of Hong Kong, the most luxurious and prestigious car brand name would be Rolls-Royce.

Once you have built up the reputation and goodwill for your products and works, the value or price will be much higher as premium will be included into it. Rolls Royce was very pricey and viewed as car brand of top quality by Hong Kong people in the 1980’s.

It is like putting the name of Ansel Adams or another photographer unknown to the world (e.g. Harris Hui) on the same B&W picture, there will be a huge difference in the evaluation of artistic or monetary value. :o)

I saw the mascot of Rolls Royce in British Car Meet of Van Dusen Garden last Saturday.
